Review of Hunger (The Jane Thornton Trilogy), by CE Black, Post-Apocalyptic Novel
Author: C. E. Black
Book: Hunger (The Jane Thornton Trilogy) Book 1
Genre: Post-Apocalyptic Menage
Jane Thornton is living in a world where zombies exist and human beings have turned on one another. She must fight the living dead and the men who would see a woman as something to own. When she meets Mason and Kade, she is afraid that they too want to possess her, but after spending some time with them, she comes to realize that they still want to protect and cherish someone they care about. Jane must decide if she is better off on her own, or if she should stay with them and find a safe place to survive.
Please note that there is strong sexual content and this book is intended for mature readers. Though Jane is drawn to Kade, there is something about Mason that intrigues her. Will she hurt one of their feelings by choosing between them, or will she decide that three is better?
I have to say that I loved this book. The action and the suspense had me either putting the book down because I wanted to punch the bad guys or picking up the book because I needed to know what would happen next. This is a short book, so I was sad to see it end until I realized that it was a trilogy. I really liked the main character Jane. She was born a mute, but she isn’t portrayed as helpless or handicapped by it in any way. If anything, it has made her more self-reliant. Jane is very smart, funny, and capable of great passion. I was immediately drawn to her independence and ability to survive against terrible odds.
I gave this book 5 stars and am eagerly waiting for the next book in the series, Starved, to come out so that I can continue Jane’s saga.
